 | Yorkie1962 is a 46 year old single guy from Huddersfield, England, UK. Hi folks. Thank you for checking out my Stumble page.
I'm a yorkshire lad here to checkout Stumble and with a bit of luck find some interesting sites and maybe make a few friends along the way.
I work for the local council as a cleaner and caretaker, I have three daughters and two grandchildren, I separated from my wife back in 2006.
I dabble in photography, I'm not very good at it but I enjoy it. I like walking in the local countryside, collecting local amateur art, and spending as much time as I can with my family.
Please feel free to contact me, review my blog, or add me as a friend. Us Yorkshire folk are friendly so don't be shy. lol |

- This is my mate Brian Sykes.

Brian died of cancer in September, 2002. He was 65 but acted more like he was 25.
When Brian passed away I wrote a little poem to express my feelings that day, several of his family asked for copies of the poem to frame and put on their walls.
This is the poem I wrote...
Old Brian Sykes was a really grand lad,
He'd suffered hard times which made us all sad.
He just couldn't fight another long day,
He couldn't keep that damn cancer at bay.
He fought like a trooper, he wouldn't give in,
But on friday the 13th it got the better of him.
It hit us hard, we cried all day.
But Brian wouldn't want us to be this way.
He wouldn't want us to feel such sorrow,
He'd simply want us to live for tomorrow.
He always said that he'd put up a fight,
After watching him I can say he was right.
Task's left undone must now stay that way,
But he now has peace at the end of the day.
He wasn't rich, he was probably broke,
But he'd give you anything, this kind yorkshire bloke.
One thing is for sure and everyone knows,
He'll bring happiness where ever he goes.
We'll miss t'old Brian, it is quite sad,
There's no one can replace this grand yorkshire lad.
